About Us

The Transcultural Psychosocial Organisation (TPO Uganda) is a local Ugandan Non-Governmental Organization. TPO commenced operations in Uganda in 1994 with the aim of providing psychosocial support and mental health care to communities, families and individuals in conflict and post conflict settings.

TPO services are delivered through a community oriented intervention model, which mainly focuses on identifying existing community support structures, traditional circles of support and building their capacity to identify and participate in supporting the psychosocial and mental health needs of; children in need of protection, survivors of gender based violence, children and families infected and affected by HIV/AIDs and families whose socio –economic wellbeing has been debilitated by conflict and/or any other disaster.

TPO projects are themed along the following intervention areas;

In Uganda, TPO has projects in the Westnile Region districts of Adjumani, Moyo, Arua, Koboko, Maracha-Terego,Nebbi, and Yumbe. In northern Uganda, in; Lira, Pader, Kitgum and Gulu and in Eastern Uganda in; Soroti, Kaberamaido, Katakwi, Amuria and Karamoja. TPO Uganda is also active in the region, through its Training and Capacity Building Unit, ensuring that psychosocial support is integral to humanitarian emergency operations by supporting humanitarian agencies to mainstream psychosocial work within their programs as well as undertaking targeted trainings for civil society organizations and government.
