Dr Margaret Mungherera MD - Chairperson of the Board

Dr. Margaret is a renowned Psychiatrist with over 25 years of practice in Uganda. Dr. Margaret has been involved with TPO Uganda for over 10 years and as a Consultant Psychiatrist, she over saw the inception of the TPO sponsored Mental Health Clinics in conflict and post conflict communities and continues to do so. She has twice been a presidential appointee on the Universities Visitation Committee and on a National Commission of Inquiry into the management of Global Fund. Dr. Margaret is the recent outgoing President of the Uganda Medical Association and the government Forensic Psychiatrist.


Dennis Barlow - BOD Vice Chairperson

An MBA graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with over 30 years experience in Finance and Human Resources Management.


Christina Angela Ntulo - BOD Director

Christina is a Psychologist with over 8 years of professional experience in development work. She possesses technical skills in strategic planning, program development and implementation, monitoring, evaluation and intervention analysis. Christina has over the year’s demonstrated interest in evidence based advocacy for purposes of policy improvement.

DR. Janet Nambi – BOD Director

Dr. Janet Nambi is a Psychologist and a Marriage and Family therapist. For over 20 years, she has worked as a lecturer at Makerere University where she has also served as a Student Advisor, Counselor and Head of Department.


Dr. Wilfred Ochan, - BOD Director

Dr. Ochan has worked for more than 15years in the field of HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health. A medical doctor by training, Dr. Ochan has worked with Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation as the head of strategic planning and development; as Technical Adviser, HIV/AIDS with IPPF Africa Regional Office in Nairobi; as National Programme Manager with the Family Planning Association of Uganda and as the National Programme Officer with the Family Health Department in the Population Secretariat, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

George Omona - BOD Director

George Omona is a Social Worker that has for the past 20 years been active in the humanitarian affairs and delivering much needed life saving interventions to communities in northern Uganda especially during the conflict emergency. He has previously worked with Gulu Support the Children Organisation (GUSCO) and with the Agency for Cooperation on Research and Development (ACORD) where he worked as the Country Director for more than 5 years his final posting before he retired into farming.

Lwanga James Sallies - BOD Director

Mr. Lwanga is a Psychotherapist with over 30 years of hands on experience as a practitioner and an academic attached to Makerere University. As a Specialist Consultant, Mr. Lwanga is a renowned Counsellor and Sex Therapist, who in several aspects, brings a wealth of knowledge and practice to the TPO Uganda projects that aim to alleviate the psychological distress of individuals and families in difficult circumstances.

Judy Ann Nassali Kamanyi - BOD Director

Judy a Development Worker, is a Fullbright Fellow with an MA in Peace & Justice Studies from the University of San Diego, California. She has worked extensively in the field of women and gender, having worked as a Director of Akina Mama Wa Afrika and as a member of the Policy Advisory Committee of MS-Uganda. She has also served on the Nabagereka Foundation an organization supporting girls in Buganda.




Senior Management Committee

A Country Director, who is assisted by the Program Manager, a Finance Manager and a Senior Program Officer, constitute the Senior Management Team that locally manages TPO Uganda.


Country Director  - Mr Patrick Onyango

Msc International Development (Bristol - UK), PGD in M&E (Stellenbosch – S.Africa)

Mr. Onyango has worked with TPO Uganda for over 12 years half of which as Country Director. A Development Management Specialist, Mr. Onyango has overseen the remarkable growth of TPO Uganda as a local national non-profit organisation involved in psychosocial support and mental health care services, child protection and other social development interventions for communities coming out of conflict and disaster. 

Program Manager - Ms. Rehema Kajungu

Rehema holds an MA in Women and Gender Studies from Makerere University, an MA in Management Studies from Uganda Management Institute, a post graduate diploma in Health Systems Management from Galilee College in Israel and professional certificates in Primary Health Care, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Strategic Planning.

Senior Program Officer - Emmanuel Ngabirano

Emmanuel holds a Masters Degree in Social Sector Planning and Management from Makerere University, Professional qualifications in systemic counseling and substance abuse.


Finance Manager – Apollo Matovu

Apollo is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Diploma in Business Studies all from Makerere University.
